Faith Formation

Yet, O Lord, you are our God; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

The United Church of Christ describes faith formation as: "an engaged process of learning and practice integrated throughout all aspects of congregational and daily life."

Faith Formation in our church reaches beyond the traditional Sunday School or Christian Education, and offers programs for our members that they may continue to nurture learn and grow. Being formed and transformed just like the clay the prophet Isaiah describes in his imagery of God as a Potter, forming humanity.

There are many things, we engage in daily, that help form and define our faith practices and rituals. Sometimes it is something we do as a community and sometimes we have to work on that individually. Here at Riverton Congregational Church our belief and approach is:

Faith Formation is a life long endeavor.

Faith Formation addresses the diversity of people's spiritual and religious needs.

Faith Formation is both formal and informal, intentional and unexpected process, it can take place in a diversity of settings and presented in a variety of formats.

One of our goals for children is to provide them with something that would help them grow in their understanding of God's creation and Jesus' Love.

After looking at many different religious magazines and books, we decided on"Natures Friend." It is a magazine that offers something for the whole family, from interesting stories about nature and the many creatures in it, to encouraging children to try their hand and drawing and writing about nature.
